GridWave - Wireless Networking for Public Safety

TurboWave is at the forefront of high-speed wireless networking for the Public Safety market. The GridWave product line offers an easy-to-manage wireless network for both mobile and fixed clients.

  • Avoid interference from unlicensed networks like 2.4Ghz and 5.8Ghz
  • Dedicated video channel for remote monitoring, video conferencing, etc.
  • Enhanced security
  • Create "cells" up to 35 miles wide in open space

Instantaneous information access in medical operations at a significantly reduced cost:
Our system enables the formation of the laptops, palmtops, and desktops of the medical personnel (doctors, nurses, and others) and patients as a single network. The existing network that links the desktops is connected wirelessly to the laptops and palmtops of the doctors, nurses and patients. The patient information updates are made instantaneously available to the doctors and nursed in charge. By allowing the roaming computers to communicate with the other through time, the number of access points (AP) needed is significantly reduced or eliminated. By utilizing the desktops and mobile computers as routers, there is no need to place large number of access points (AP) to ensure full coverage of the building.

Mobile robot teams:
Due to recent advances in robotic technology, teams of mobile robots are employed to carry out the operations in buildings. The proposed system forms an ad-hoc network of the robots and enables the communication between them, irrespective of the connectivity changes as the robots move in and out of the rooms. At present the connectivity loss is treated as a failure, and direct connectivity from a robot to an access point (AP) is needed for information exchange. In unstructured buildings, the required infrastructure of access points (AP) is not available. The TurboWave system can significantly enhance the productivity of the network of robots by exploiting the time-connectivity of the network.

Search-and-rescue/find missions:
Consider a team of rescuers, searching a forest area looking for a missing person. By equipping the team members with wearable computers, the information about the partial search can be exchanged between the team members. By forming an adhoc network of these computers, the search process can be much more effectively performed. The search information can be tied to the Global Positioning System (GPS) and a map-integration software to automatically provide most up to date search status to all team members. The ability to form adhoc networks without infrastructure and to handle dynamic connectivity is be very valuable in unstructured environments.
